I updated the video, please scroll up to the first post. it's not a new video so I did not open a new thread, but there are some bigger changes - please watch the video (again), even if you already watched the first version!
I think the race_s setup is quite fine then, maybe just lower the brakeforce to ~900Nm if you use mouse. that's not meant to be a funny answer, but in my opinion it is better to keep using that setup until you drive 1:25s or faster - instead of switching to random setups every now and then, hoping to find big improvements within one lap.
I don't upload the setup I use since it is not my own one, but I recommend you to improve your racing line and braking points before testing thousands of setups
at www.lfsworld.net you can download XRT/BL1 hotlaps (S2 Hotlaps -> Hotlap charts -> XRT; click at the laptime you want to watch, save it in your lfs folder /data/spr) and watch them onboard (V to switch view) if you want to work on your racing line - good luck!
Sounds are planned for the next one again
But this time I wasn't motivated to turn off all my windows sounds because recording the scenes took quite some time since I used some more scenes than usually. Plus my great equipment always gives me a challenge whenever I wanna combine LFS sounds with music and then make it fit to the frame rate of the movie
As I mentioned above I prefered using the real-racing-scenes for videos, nothing "faked". But with some more racers it could be a try worth and lead to an interesting result for sure .. And probably there are some guys out there who would give it a try with us
But I think I have to delay everything like this to my autumn- or even christmas-holidays, school is keeping me busy at the moment. This video was a one-weekend-project
yes noticed that too .. the problem is I don't have interesting replays with all cars which include nice scenes. and I didn't want to start "posing" with all the other cars because I prefer the real racing scenes, so I had to use scenes of my favorite combo predominantly
... for you I'd do everything
uhm let's see what I can do, but I don't want to promise
I'll maybe register there and upload it later this week, but I think most people unfortunately don't use stage6 yet because downloading the video as .avi usually is faster than waiting until stage6 has finished buffering (at least that's what I experienced when using it)
I worked my video over again, trying to incorporate solutions for most of your criticism. Changelog:
- smoother scenes in the beginning
- nearly all cars are featured now (although XRT/BL1 scenes still predominate)
- updated lfs logo at the end
- more racing
- less cars without skins
- half of the file size, same quality
I won't work it over again but I know the video is not perfect - so please post your opinions and suggestions, both positive and negative ones
EDIT:
For those who like the song used in the video: It is a shortened version of the soundtrack of Requiem for a Dream; Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna (Orchestral Version) (6:34)
yea I think he would have scored a nice result otherwise
in sprint race b9's mouse was buggy (according to b9..) .. so he braked a bit late
and that tyre in the long race hit Lont, too, that's hard to see in the movie
however, I think we should arrange such an event again - let's get d9 and co buy a license and do it in S2. with more than 8 racers and a few spectators maybe
Finally I found some time to turn a replay from February into a movie. A close race with ChesNos (XRT, BL GP). It's a 5 lap race, all scenes are shown in chronological order.
I turned my last OLFSL race into a little video, mainly showing me and my team mate filur. At the end it's me timing out because of connection problems.
